Select & Power On Any Standard 58mm ESC/POS Printer

Hardware Requirement

KhataOS supports standard industry ESC/POS protocol thermal printers. You do not need proprietary or branded hardware.

  • Ensure a fresh 58mm thermal paper roll is loaded with the glossy thermal side facing the print head.
  • Turn on the printer. Hold the paper feed button while powering on to print a self-test slip confirming the Bluetooth device name (usually MPT-II, POS-58, or RPP02N) and pairing PIN (default is typically 0000 or 1234).

Pair the Bluetooth Device on Android or iOS

Execution Time: ~1 minute (One-time setup)

Before launching KhataOS, establish the wireless Bluetooth link on your smartphone or tablet:

  • Go to your phone’s Settings → Bluetooth and scan for available devices.
  • Tap your printer's name from the list and enter the 4-digit PIN. Once paired, the printer appears under "Paired Devices".

Configure Store Identity & Roll Width in KhataOS

Execution Time: ~2 minutes (One-time setup)

Open KhataOS on your device and navigate to Settings → Hardware & Printer.

  • Select Paper Width: 58mm (32 Columns).
  • Enter your Store Registered Name, Address, and Phone Number.
  • GSTIN (Optional): If registered under regular GST, enter your 15-digit GSTIN. KhataOS will automatically generate a legally compliant "Tax Invoice" header under Rule 46.
  • UPI Payment QR: Enter your store UPI VPA (e.g. storename@upi). KhataOS will render a crisp, scannable BharatQR barcode at the bottom of every receipt for fast customer scanning.

Rapid Counter Checkout (3-Second Bill Print)

During billing rush, speed is paramount:

  • In the billing counter screen, tap the items or enter item names (e.g. Aashirvaad Atta 5kg, Sugar 2kg).
  • Tap Charge / Pay. Select the payment mode (Cash, UPI, or Udhar).
  • Tap Print Bill. The Bluetooth printer instantly buzzes and feeds a clean, crisp 58mm receipt:

Statutory Retention vs. Thermal Paper Fading

Veteran Compliance Note: Section 36 of the CGST Act Thermal paper printed with standard chemistry fades completely after 6 to 9 months under ambient Indian humidity and heat. However, Section 36 of the CGST Act mandates that businesses maintain accounting and tax records for 72 months (6 years).
